Jane Carney

Jane graduated with honours in Law from Trinity College Dublin in 1996 before completing her professional training at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queen’s University Belfast, qualifying as a solicitor in 1999.

She began her career with a leading Belfast law firm, where she spent ten years specialising in residential conveyancing and property transactions, developing a strong foundation in client service and legal practice.

Driven by a desire to return to her home County, Fermanagh, Jane joined a local practice where she spent the next sixteen years advising clients across a broad range of legal matters. It was during this period that she developed a particular passion for family law, building a reputation for delivering clear, pragmatic advice and achieving positive outcomes for clients navigating often complex and emotionally challenging circumstances.

Today, Jane is recognised as a highly respected family law practitioner, advising on all aspects of relationship breakdown, divorce, financial settlements, arrangements for children, cohabitation disputes, and pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. She is known for combining legal expertise with a practical, solutions-focused approach that helps clients make informed decisions during periods of significant personal change.

Jane joined P.A. Duffy & Co in 2023, bringing with her more than two decades of legal experience and a wealth of specialist knowledge in family law.

She is a member of The Children’s Order Panel, reflecting her expertise in matters involving children and families, and has also trained as a family mediator through Family Mediation NI. Her mediation training further enhances her ability to assist clients in resolving disputes constructively and, where appropriate, without the need for contested court proceedings.
